Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress from America. Since the late 80s she has been working in film and TV. Her work has been recognized with several awards, among them the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett born in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt, who was born at New York New York, is a well-known actress. When Bassett was around five the family were moved from the city of St. Petersburg, Florida where they lived with their mother who had separated from their father. Bassett watched the James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play when she was at high school and decided that she was an actor and would like to be doing. The year was 1980 and Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with a degree in African American studies. She earned a diploma from The Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance was also an actor at Yale. The couple got married in 1997.
